You might be surprised to hear that the latest research shows that women do suffer from back pain more then men do.
Why would that be so?
It basically comes down to this... Woman may often suffer several types of pain simultaneously.
Allow me to explain.
Since women are more likely than men to experience multiple painful conditions at the same time... This could lead to greater psychological distress and greater likelihood of disability.
We found this article in the massage Middletown NY blog that quoted the Metro.co.uk news as saying:
‘Chronic pain affects a higher proportion of women than men around the world,’ said Dr Jennifer Kelly, from the Atlanta Centre for Behavioural Medicine.
‘We need to encourage women to take a more active role in their treatment and reduce the stigma and embarrassment of this problem.’
For example did you know that chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis and migraines are more prevalent in women than in men .
On top of all of that scientists tells us that a woman's pain perception will vary according to her menstrual cycle.
Pregnancy also adds to lower back pain as well as additional emotional stress that a man will never have to deal with
